Squamish Nation Arts And Culture Exhibit AT GPAG

Locals from near and far gathered at the Gibsons Public Art Gallery (GPAG) today for a celebration of Squamish Nation arts and culture.

The  elders and artist shared stories, music and prayer dedicated to the past, present and future. A wide range of art displayed the depth of the culture including textiles, jewelry, metalwork, wood carvings and paintings with some peices dating back to the 1950’s. 

Join in the festivities from June 29-July 24, 2016 at the GPAG. Entry is free and workshops by the artists are ongoing.

Real Estate Performance On The Sunshine Coast Continues To Climb Overall

The real estate market activity on the Sunshine Coast is unprecedented. Residential property sales are moving a record pace with sales totalling166 up 116.0% over May 2015.

Total dollar volume rose 166% to $88,732,657 with a sales success ratio of 47% landing the real estate firmly into the seller’s hands.

Inventory has dropped again to 354 total properties for sale, down 55%. New homes listed for sale totaled 177 and the average days on market were 139 dropping 9%.

The average price of a residential property was $534,534 up 24% and the MLS® Home Price Index (HPI) climbed 21.6% to $446,900 in May 2016 over the same period last year.

The month of May 2016 shows a slight drop in overall performance over April while year over year the numbers continue to grow.

 

Detached Home Sales

Detached home sales dollar volume for the month of May 2016 on the Sunshine Coast dipped slightly 1.5% to $79,274,987 from last month. Unit sales were 133 sales, a 7% increase.

The average price of a detached home fell 5% to $596,052 since last month.

The number of active homes for sale was 280 units along with 133 detached homes sold for a sales success ratio of 48% in May 2016.

Year-to-date sales for 2016 totalled $302,586,409 in the detached market with 517 detached homes sold.

 

Condo, Townhome and Apartment Home Sales

Condos, townhomes and apartments sales totaled $9,457,670 on the Sunshine Coast, an increase of 204% over last month. Unit sales of 33 sold in May 2016. The number of active attached homes for sale was 69 units with a sale success ratio of 48%.

Average price of an apartment, condo and townhome in May 2016 on the Sunshine Coast BC dropped 17% to $286,830 compared to last month.

Year-to-date sales volume of townhomes, condos and apartments on the Sunshine Coast increased 45% to $30,562,230 while unit sales of 108 matched with a rise of 44% over the same period last year.

 

Land Only Sales

Sales for the Sunshine Coast land only real estate market for the month of May 2016 rose 15% to $16,419,100 with unit sales pushing up 22% to 73 units compared to last month.

The average price of bare land property on the Sunshine Coast BC dropped 12% to $210,501 over last month.

A sales-success ratio of 29% on bare land continues as a seller’s market.

Year-to-date sales jumped 59% the same period last year to $44,352,300 with a total of 205 units sold.
